Brie de Meaux Donge

Brie de Meaux Donge

From a dairy set up by grandfather Etienne Donge  in 1930, this Brie de Meaux is still being made by the Donge family in the traditional Brie making area of the Ile-de-France.  It is a nine times winner of the prestigious Medaille D'Or, a medal usually won only once in a lifetime!

Taking 25 litres to make one 3kg cheese, it is made using unpasteurised local milk.  As has been the tradition for centuries, the curd is hand-ladled before being drained and aged for 6-8 weeks. Brie de Meaux has fruity and vegetable undertones, with a smooth and velvety texture. It is a complex, rich cheese, full flavoured with a camembert like fruitiness.
