Roquefort Vieux Berger

Roquefort Vieux Berger

Roquefort is distinctive for its smooth, piquant quality. It is creamy, white with green-blue veining and a full flavour characteristic of a ewe's milk cheese.

Roquefort cheese is a strong, spicy and distinctive, ewe's milk cheese made from the milk of sheep that graze on the diverse grasses and wildflowers that grow on the limestone plateaus found in the Aveyron Department - France. The cheese is ripened in the natural damp and airy caves found under the village of Roquefort-sur-Soulzon.

Vieux Berger is the of smallest of seven producers of this style of cheese. It is one of the last hand-made Roqueforts. Our favourite by far.
